Welcome to LEAVES FROM THE VINE, an alternate universe Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra roleplay, where the characters from Avatar Aang's era have been thrown into Korra's world thanks to some meddling spirits. Meanwhile, Amon is still planning on eliminating the benders of the city; the arrival of another Avatar is simply an inconvenience where he's concerned; after all, his cause grows stronger and more popular with the nonbenders of the city with each day that passes. Whose side will you choose?
Please remember to register with your character's name in all capital letters, and check our "needed" list for wanted groups! We always accept both canons and originals. <3
09.01.12 New skin! Hopefully you guys like it, it is a bit on the simple side compared to prior skins, but hey. Anyway, please don't bring up skin errors in the cbox, as I may not be able to catch them. There's a thread for that, right over here. Also, please be aware that if you have a canon character and haven't been active in the past few weeks, we have been sending out messages to check on your activity. We will archive characters who don't bump up their activity! And last but not least, we have an event coming up! Come one, come all, to a gala hosted by Republic City's council members, in honor of the arrival of Avatar Aang and the rest of the past group. Everyone's invited, so grab a date and get your dance on!

in honor of avatar aang's arrival (as well as the rest of the people from the past), republic city's council members have gotten together to throw a gala. hosted in city hall, the gala will feature pleasant music, all the food you could eat, and of course plenty of dancing. so whether you come solo or with a date, it's a must-attend party.
you can come and go almost anywhere by train - tracks can be found all over the earth kingdom and even into the fire nation. you can't travel to the water tribes by train just yet, however. the station isn't the most attractive part of the city; it's often crowded and loaded with theft and crime. it is a perfect venue for certain business opportunities, though.
upholding the culture of the air nomads and the glory of the temples, this island is arguably one of the most glorious places around republic city. it is also, of course, the only place you'll find airbenders, flying bison, etcetera.
all of the laws governing the city are made here, and approved by the council - representatives from the fire nation, earth kingdom, air nomads, and both water tribes. it is a prestigious building, and also the site of any announcements that need to be made.
the park is one of the most popular places in the city. it is a scenic place, full of lush green grass, trees, and the sparkling water of the pond. just don't be caught littering, fishing, living in bushes, etc.
though the equalists meet in many places around the city, there is one area that they consider their main hideout. it is under the ground, and the place where they transport goods, keep prisoners, and undergo training.
there are countless other places in the city to explore. restaurants such as kuang's cuisine or narook's seaweed noodlery; businesses such as future industries or cabbage corp.; or even places such as aang memorial island, which serves as a beacon of hope to the people of the city.
the fire nation is a land steeped in culture, and though they are more technologically advanced than the other nations (excluding republic city), they still cling to the things that make them unique. still, the fire nation has loosened up quite a bit since the hundred year war - and most would say that's been a very refreshing change.
since the hundred year war, both the northern and the southern water tribes have grown considerably. their populations have both doubled - tripled, for the northern tribe - and though they still have yet to use the new technology that republic city has to offer, they do well enough with their (mostly) traditional ways of life.
the earth kingdom has been changing rapidly since the hundred year war, especially since the founding of republic city. the city has shaped the nation around it, and though some parts of the earth kingdom cling to their old, more traditional ways, most of the country has fully embraced this new life.
unfortunately, the air temples still remain deserted, their remains gradually crumbling and becoming more decrepit. there has been talk of trying to restore the temples at some point, but for now they remain untouched except for the occasional tourist.
there is much beyond republic city and the four nations; and not just water, either. some would say that nothing out there matters, because no one lives there, it hasn't been developed, and the like. but that's all up to you, isn't it?
